hot hot hot

Our jaunt to Wales started yesterday - so if you want to start at the beginning click here

SUNDAY

Fabulous sunrise over our wonderful B&B, Gwel Yr Ynys, in Dinas.  (This is their website and this is my review).
Sunday morning sunrise over Yr Eifl from our bedroom window
and breakfast
and one of my favourite hillforts, Garn Fadryn - right outside our B&B
then a nostalgic trip to Pwllheli of course
look at those blue skies
and that yummy Caddies - in their brand new coffee bar
and lovely new fishy sculptures
then dear old Aberdaron (for family connections history click here)
the other Bellfield - alias Henfaes

Nine little ducklings on the river below the bridge - Ahhh
and here we all are with our dear friends after a mega sunday lunch on the terrace of Ty Newydd overlooking the beach.  The afternoon flew by far too fast!
Elfed and all the family
Ynys Enlli, glimpsed from Mynydd Mawr
Then it was back round to Morfa Nefyn as evening fell
Yr Eifl yet again, from Morfa Nefyn this time
and looking across to Porth Dinllaen
What a wonderful day!  But there was still Monday and Tuesday to come - click here to read on

Sea, sun and fun fun fun

Got to keep reminding ourselves it was summer last weekend!  Certainly on the beautiful Llyn Peninsula anyway.

Here's a taster of our fabulous holiday with Mum in deepest Wales . . .

SATURDAY

Leaving one Belfield for another
Great homebaked food en route at Caffi Yr Hen Felin in Abergwyngregyn
To say nothing of our delicious Pimms and high tea with Mair and Meirion in Penrhos - where the time slipped by so delicously I stupidy forgot to take any photos!
Those beautiful wildflowers along all the lanes of the Llyn

the amazing Mynydd Cefn Amlwch ancient burial chamber near Tudweiliog
looking down on Porth Towyn as evening falls
A balmy sunset at nearly 10 at night over the Irish Sea
and a midnight view from our B&B window in Dinas over to Yr Eifl
and if you click onto the next post - you'll see sunrise over same and our Sunday adventures in Aberdaron . . .

testing your Sheffield

This weekend just gone found us at several Sheffield Poetry Festival events, listening to River Wolton, Julia Copus, Paula Cunnningham and Gillian Clarke.  All brilliant.  And our final one was a walk around Sheffield tracing the medieval, Georgian and wartime city with Rob Hindle.

So rather than tell you were we started and finished - see if you can guess the locations, some have got little hints left in to help!  Answers in the comments box or on a postcard . . . . . .

buried treasure

A ton of rocks had to come out to leave this pristine herb bed
 into which went:
Marjoram
Flat leaf parsley

Tarragon
Thyme
Chives

Mint

and voila!!

so what about the rest of the jungle?

and this buried treasure with a hallmark no less - more when I've cleaned it up

on the edge

This time last week we spent a happy day being blown about up on Curbar Edge with Heather and Peter, followed by a dainty cake and cuppa at Cintra's tea rooms in Hathersage.

But first, a nostalgic visit up the top of our village
before we went up aloft
There were climbers clambering up the edge
 and wildebeesties glaring ferociously
and wandering precariously close to the edge
beautiful grasses and cottongrass

 fabulously strange rock formations
It was as glorious as ever up there on top of the world
and lovely to have friends to share it with.
